GOVERNMENT CONTACTS

At a recent Board meeting while discussing the alarming increase in insurance, our President suggested that we contact our State Representatives and be sure they know how we feel and are acting to improve our insurance dilemma.

Our board, to their credit, have posted addresses on the lobby bulletin boards.   Let's drop them a note and tell them where we stand.

Below is an example of a letter which you may wish to send to your State Senator or Representive regarding the large increases in insurance  rates in our State

Dear (add Representative name)

We have been watching with increasing disgust the rapid increase in our insurance rates.

I am a member of a fairly large Condominium, comprising approximately 400 voters.  Our board of directors was forced to raise our monthly assessment by 15%, primarily to cover the increases in insurance premiums resulting from the two hurricanes we experienced last year.

We sustained light damage from high winds.  While we deeply regret the heavy losses and deaths that were reported from our southern neighbors it doesn’t seem fair that our area is being penalized for losses we had nothing to do with.

Who is responsible for these increases?  More importantly who is doing something about it?

I urge you to get busy on legislation that benefits our resident and not some ”out of state” insurance executive or lobbyist in Tallassee.
